SPAR 2006

Welcome to my first post for what promises to be a valuable source of information on laser scanning for surveyors and engineers. I just returned from Houston, site of the third annual SPAR POINT RESEACH conference on 3D laser scanning. Great show. Tom and his crew did a great job of bringing together many experts on this head-spinning new technology. If you are new to scanning, this would have been a great way to immerse yourself into the community of vendors, manufactuers, software creators, users and service providers. I was inspired to start this blog while reflecting on the volume if information presented at this conference. The blog seems like a great forum to air my thoughts on industry trends and practices. In the following days I will provide some details about the conference and begin introducing some basic topics on scanning.
